How about a shoulder title for a Major in Popski's Private Army? LOL (as they say!)

Hadn't thought of that - definitely a must have for the SF fanatics.
But seriously, the only thing I can find in it's favour is the script - which is very similar to that used by the Palestine Police. Eddie |

Palestine Police - agreed but the association of the crown with a title is unusual. Did the Force have an Auxiliary component along the lines of the B Specials - if so could this have been a headress badge for them?

I have taken this badge to be as described, and probably used on head dress, because police usually have their number as a s/t.
However I also have another "PPA" badge, ascribed to Palestine. This is a die stamped tin wm disc, 40mm in diameter, with a circle of olive leaves (7mm) around the edge, and with a centre of solid dark blue (23mm) leaving "PPA" across the centre in wm - but also in the same script as above. It is on lugs with feet. In "The Echo of the Bugle", being a history of "Extinct military and constabulary forces in Palestine and Transjordan 1915 - 1967" (published in Jerusalem 1978), I can find no reference to "Auxiliaries"; but there appear to have been many different sorts of "Reserves", eg Special Constables, Local Specials (who were "Urban" policemen), as well as Temporary Additional Police, and a female Police Unit in Jerusalem, whose members wore bicornes, commanded by an enormously fat Russian woman popularly called "the whale". There is lots more info but this paperback is a bit of a jumble of facts, extending to French, Greek, Czech and Polish troops etc doing duty in Palestine. |

I believe it to be a badge of Palestine Port Authority.

I have always understood this badge to be: Palestine Police Auxiliary. Best regards, Zob. |

Well - I've discovered what it REALLY is. And it is absolutely nothing at all to do with the Palestine Police or indeed Palestine.
