At a guess I would say it's an Instructors "Red Tab" (still worn today! Not pink that is.) that has faded?

Hi, It is pink, my first thought was that it had faded but the inside is pink though the outside is slightly paler. Mike

I would think that "pink" is correct as some countries use this colour to denote Tanks/Armoured/etc. Here is a Bundeswehr tankie collar tab and quite clearly "pink"

Hi, thanks but India and eventually Pakistan kept to the British red and yellow for armour. You are right that certain areas use specific colours for armour but Germany picked pink as it was about the only colour left when the Wiemar decided to have a colour for armour. Mike
