Default London Regt cloth neret badge

Gents, I was recently given this London Regt cloth beret badge. Apparently a private purchase by the regiment but apparently none were worn. Anyone know any more than that? Is that correct?

Bess

I think it’s possibly a TRF, unless it’s smaller (the manufacturing process appears identical - what are the dimensions?). The regiment no longer exists now as you might no.

It looks like one of commercially made patches and the other Guards badges can be found. Never ever worn on the beret!

No its not a TRF Toby - they came from a guy in the regiment and one was passed on to me. Private purchase as a beret badge but as far as I understand it - never used as such. Its not one of those 'morale' badge type things which are velcro backed. This was intended as a cloth beret badge.

As I understand it there were delays in getting sufficient metal stars so the Regiment might have ordered a cloth beret badge for the interim?

In any event, all overtaken by the change from the London Regiment to the London Guards, so all badges of this type being instantly redundant (and collectable).

David, yes its the attached - there are 3 or 4 manufacturing variations. Worn extensively as a beret badge by the PWRR.

Thanks Bess, understood, the more I squinted at it the smaller it seemed. There are a lot of changes with more recent headdress insignia that I’m unfamiliar with. There’s been an attempt to improve quality and appearance. I’d have been surprised if this particular badge had been worn.

Do you mean the proposed TRF for B Company The London Regiment?
