Thanks Tim, interesting to see such pristine badges, and that’s a good view of the metal one. It doesn’t seem to have been that popular, at least I rarely see them in WW2 era photos.

Yes I’m sure you’re right Tim, all the photos that I have of my father and his brother show that same angle perched on the head.
