Must have been a lot of pressure applied to the members of the Army Dress Committee to approve it.

The Historical British Ranger Regiment(s) examples..... there are more.
American Revolutionary War :- Queen's Rangers and King's American Regiment The King's American Regiment OR So I would say that the upturned Crescent badge is a more fitting cap badge for the new Ranger Regiment.... on a "Ranger Green" beret.

Pity the stringed bugle insignia's already taken and the "Light Infantry" title not resurrected.

Only one Rangers Regt for me https://wartimememoriesproject.com/g...on.php?pid=716
The new badge for me just lacks thought, lacks tradition, lacks what the British Army stands for , as badges have changed over the years part of the old regiments history or style have tried to be kept to some degree, I understand it’s a new regiment but it’s drawing from some of our finest regiments and history and for me would of been nice to have reflected this to some degree, just my thoughts. Least of my worries. I'll never have to wear it.

Looks to be the same as the 'Galilee Grey' that the DHU uses for its stable belt.

From a distance it certainly does look like a US Colonel rank insignia as in the MASH photo. Shame it isn't even as nice. A very un-British design.

Its my understanding that the whole concept of the Rangers being Special Forces, is the cause of some consternation amongst the established SF community.
I suspect it may be a political.appointment as I believe, troops designated 'Special Forces' do not need the sanction of an act of Parliament to deploy. I could be talking nonesense, but anyone got any thoughts? |

Seems to me to be more dark in shade - getting uncomfortably close to QARANC grey. I’ve nothing against QARANC but the Rangers might not want to get confused with nursing staff - not a very Ally image!

I think the shade of grey for the beret and stable belt is referred to as ‘Gunmetal Grey”.
