Stamp issued in Baku Georgia 1919-20. This may be a forgery as originals fetch $500.

Ron, I just wish to say that I have enjoyed viewing the various objects you have shown in your topic: "my other collections", particularly the RN ship PC's.

I too have a fairly extensive collection of late Victorian, Edwardian, & Great War period ship photos I would like to show sometime in future.

I appreciate that we are permitted to show, view, & the Moderators are tolerant of, items that are not badge related in our collections, unlike another popular forum to which I belong. Its nice to see what other items members collect!

Bryan

I have found Ron's various collections to be fascinating and his passion is clear. Like yourself Bryan, I am always fascinated to find out other things that Forum members collect in addition to badges. I collect postcards from the WW1 period, particularly those sent home from the Western front with their poignant messages. I have a postcard to a Tommy from his wife in which she berates him for failing to answer her letters and postcards....when I researched him, I found he had been killed. So very sad and I wonder how guilty she felt when she found out. I like to research names on the postcards to see if they survived the war...too often they did not sadly. I also collect (I shall whisper this very quietly) SylvaC dogs. My collection leaves visitors speechless.....with embarrassment!

The calling card of Cpt Bayley RN, together with a letterhead crest from HMS Pelorus, also tinted photos of three ships he was Cpt of.
During the Boxer rebellion he landed the 6 inch guns from the Aurora and found himself Provost Marshal of British forces in Tientsien. His task was to stop looting arson rioting and destruction of railway lines.
Admiralty report Aug 1900.
Bayley whose duties were most constant, harassing and onerous. He displayed throughout great calmness, energy and good judgement with a tact and temper quite remarkable.
