Devon & Dorsets Officers Bullion Cap Badge.
G'day
Any views on this please? A cap badge or collar badge? A genuine version of the badge? Anodised buttons, which appear to be original to the cap. Ta, Leigh. |

Hi Leigh,
The cap badge is fine, the braided band around the cap is fine. There is no chin strap. The cap could be an OR's (other ranks) depends on what it looks like inside, most officers pattern had the tailors mark inside. Many ACF officers adapted OR's caps as I did, when we wore these cap's, only bought an officers pattern when we changed to The Rifles. Regards.Tim. |

Another - both 2nd Pattern?
As an officers cap badge exists in silver gilt I suspect that embroidered badges were intended for the beret and / or side cap? Tim

I have a few caps that puzzle me a little, one beimng a Middlesex Regt with white metal badge, which I associate with 1st Bn sergeants? A good quality cap, the badge was fitted at the time the cap was manufactured, I've never quite worked that one out, perhaps a sgts, a WOs, rather than an officers. |

Black stitching on the sphinx is a little different on the cap to either of those 2 badges - strange that the sphinx is so ill defined in all of them.
Reassuring to know that the badge is genuine, & a cap badge, the cap cost a few quid so it was worth the risk, thanks. |
