Royal Ulster Constabulary Collar Badges.
My assumption is that 50 mm tall RUC badges with blades are cap badges, 50 mm tall with lugs collar badges and that at some point 40 mm tall collar badges came to replace the 50 mm tall ones.
Did the 40 mm collars replace the 50 mm or run concurrently, perhaps on different forms of dress? |

The large cap badge was made with both blades and loop fittings. The smaller versions (left and right facing) are collar badges.

Thanks for that info, I was mistakenly thinking that I'd seen the "big" badge worn as a collar during the 1970's (goodness know I acquired enough of the things from RUC back then, now almost all given away over the years).
