A Kings Regt anodised cap badge but with 2 blade fastening to the rear, I was told it was made to be worn on the side cap to stop the badge moving about, which sounds plausible, but I have never seen another example of this fastening on an anodised badge before, has anyone else ??

P.B.
Ive had a 16th/5th Lancers badge with the same sort of fixing,i was led to believe that they were used in the belt plate.
Sidehat badge does sound a good explanation though.

I have already posted the full set of these badges on here, not sure where. All the badges in the two frames have the two blade fitting. Most of the badges used on the waist belt plates that I have seen have small lugs for a cotter pin or single bar.

Reference: Anodised badges with two vertical blades.
I bought a number of these badges at the 1991 Royal Tournament.
They were available for ALL regiments/corps at the time and came individually in small plastic bags. The only badge that did not have the blades was the SAS, which had a slider marked "AMMO".
I hope that this info is of use.

Default Duke of Lancasters own Yeomanry

Hi Guys,
Heres another variant for the web pages - it is the Duke of Lancater's own Yeomanry a/a cap badge with a large Coronet.Although not particularly scarce it is little known of amongst staybrite collectors. This badge is mentioned as a variant in K&K 2310 and I believe is not simply a manufacturers error. The badge is made by Firmin London.

Hi Guys,

I have added this but I'm not convinced that this is a proper variation as such just a difference in manufacturers design.

There are lots of small changes like the thin and small bowl on the Army Catering Corp badge but personally I don't see these as variations at all. Like wise with slider v's shanks (lugs).

Where it comes to void and unvoided areas, different colours for different ranks, evolution of structure to make a badge more stable, different sizes then yes, I'm happy to call it a variation but in this case I disagree with K+K for the reason in my first sentance.

When I eventually come to catalouge all these badges into a new format I will just include it as a note only.

Regards

Chris

Hi Guys,

Following information recieved, I have updated the names of some of the anodised badges on the web pages.

The names relate to the anodised version only and are taken from the sealing cards of the anodised aluminium cap badge themselves.

Units involved are:

2) "Q" (Liverpool Irish) Battery 470 (3 West Lancashire) Regiment, Royal Artillery

3) 851st (Westmoreland And Cumberland Yeomanry) Independent Battery, RA (TA)

4) Leicestershire And Derbyshire (Prince Albert's Own) Yeomanry

5) 5th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment

6) 308th (Suffolk And Norfolk Yeomanry) Regiment, Royal Artillery

7) 383rd Regiment (Duke Of Connaught's Own Royal Hampshire) Royal Artillery

8) 296th (Royal Devon Yeomanry) Regiment, Royal Artillery

9) 47th (Middlesex Yeomanry) Signals Regiment

10) North Somerset Yeomanry / 44th Royal Tank Regiment

11) Staffordshire Yeomanry (Queens's Own Royal Regiment), Royal Armoured Corps

12) North Staffordshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's)

13) Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment)

14) Honourable Artillery Company (Serjeants, Infantry Battalion)

15) 304th (Essex Yeomanry) Regiment, Royal Artillery (32mm High)

16) 304th (Essex Yeomanry) Regiment, Royal Artillery (47mm High)
