Royal Army Pay Corps
I came across this page in a 1940 booklet showing a drawing of the Royal Arms badge without the "Fide et fiducia" scroll being worn by the RAPC, but K&k volume 2 doesn't appear to mention it?

Rob,
A bit of artistic licence I suspect. Some of the old publications can have errors in them. Alan |

Seems there was some confusion by the compiler on the badge worn by a Colonel ( of the RAPC ) and the actual RAPC badge.

Not wishing to hijack Rob's thread, but does anyone have the RAPC badge that Kipling & King illustrate as KK 2135? This seems to be sized somewhere between the hat badge (KK 2133) and the beret badge (KK 2136) and would sit somewhere inbetween in the bottom row of the attached scan.
I'm flumoxed on getting one as dealers seem to list either large or small and not 'inbetweeny'. Any dealer got one for sale? For interest I show the brass/gilding metal badge that was produced in WW2 and is the middle badge in the scan. Best regards Dubaiguy |

Never even registered its existence. With only about 5mm in it I doubt any dealer does either.
A nice example of the wrong metals badge. I only have one because it came in a lot of badges that i bought for £15 because I spotted a plastic RTR in there. I didn't even notice the RAPC badge in there; which is ironic as its worth twice the plastic RTR badge. |

As Ray Mears would say, 'what a lucky find'. A 'wrong metal' WW2 badge would certainly put a dent in your pocket now if you bought it from someone that knew what he was selling. The inbetweeny KC size badge is intriguing only because it is detailed in KK and I guess would be a must for any serious RAPC collector. I perhaps unintentionally started collecting RAPC (one of my earliest was the beret badge in my first scan with the snipped slider marked Gladman & Norman which I bought from you years ago), but as you mentioned in a previous thread, the RAPC design makes an attracive and appealing badge. As my little lot of RAPC has grown since then, the inbetweeny would be nice to have just for the sake of completeness. What a hobby! Cheers Dubaiguy |

It got me thinking so I checked my RAPC badges and found that I have KK2135 in my collection. I must have known about it when brought as I have catalogued it as such.
It is around 4-5mm smaller then KK2133. Jerry.

Thanks Jerry. So they exist then! I guesstimate that will make it about 40mm from tip of crown to bottom of scroll.
As Alan says, it perhaps would be unusual for a dealer to recognise the difference, so without buying a load and hoping I get one, I probably don't have a cat in hell's chance. Unless you ever find yourself with two that is............. Thanks for confirming their existence. Dubaiguy |

All brass and cast with three lugs all facing to the centre of the badge. Indian made maybe? The third pic has the badge between the larger and smaller beret badge. |

Alan and Mikes remarks reminded me of this article from "The Illustrated Times " of April 1860 which mentions the Royal London Irish Rifles.
Has anyone heard of the Six Foot Volunteer Guards either ? P.B.
