CQB is Close Quarter Battle. No idea why someone had it made.

CQB usually stands for Close Quarter Battle but most likely a made up item?
Or part of the new Royal Marines organisation - Future Commando Force??? Tim

My suggestion is that it is not military but relates to either and Airsoft or Paintball team.

Thanks for all the replies. I don’t think it has anything to do with the Royal Marines and is most likely to be made up or airsoft related, but it was in a box of lots of other legitimate British Army DPM and OG slides and it’s always worth checking.........

I didn't think it was an official item but possibly a commemorative/souvenir item made for those who took part in Exercise Tartan Eagle.
Globe & Laurel Article: Ex Tartan Eagle (US) .

If they are Army or RM issue, they could be for CQB instructors but I’ve never seen them and it seems neither has anyone else encountered them, hence my conclusion that they are probably fantasy (unless anyone else knows different). |

I think I can say with certainty that it is not an item worn by the British Army.

A DPM version of my OG one. Looking at the DPM, I would say it’s similar to that used just before CS95, so would date from the early 1990s, long before airsoft teams appeared and started to use military camouflage - maybe paintball?
I think Alan is right about it not being British Army, as someone would have recognised it. If it was for something like CQB instructors, it leaves no room for any rank insignia and they would inevitably be NCOs. An unsolved mystery....... |
