The fault I mention in post 10 is, for example, on this badge which is on a member's website. Nice looking badge but has the fault under London. I would think it a fault on some good badges but wonder if anyone has seen similar on a dodgy badge. Regards, Paul. https://www.brittonsbadges.co.uk/en-...dge/prod_12886

Regards post 14, I think the Hodden grey rosette for the badge on the Tam o'Shanter came into use in 1937 but unsure how long the blue backing was used- possibly back to 1915 when the Tam came into use? Regards, Paul.
(Date of 1937 from Robson's London Scottish uniform book.)
Illustration in Osprey British Territorial Units 1914-18 has an illustration depicting a Private in 1/14th London Scottish-1917, with the blue badge backing.

Hello Markus. Nice badge. Could be the fault is only on pin fitting badges from one manufactuer. Regards, Paul.

Paul,
are you suggesting that all those without a void are fake? I have a a few with pins without void, from a very reliable source, that I am happy with.

Hello Chris. I have one with lugs and no void on a post 1937 Tam O'Shanta. The points I made are the most positive points to look for on what I take to be an older badge. I don't know what the non void badge indicates, perhaps a more recent badge or just a different maker? Regards, Paul.

I do wonder though if this Tam has been "messed with " as the acceptance mark is 31 over W arrow D over P which i take to be a Great War mark, and the construction of the Tam does not conform to the usual Great War type.
