Lancs Hussars NCO Arm Badge
Hi All
This is Sergeant William Pendlebury LHY in blues and his arm badge is not the one I am familiar with (that I have also attached)?

I may be wrong but I have always been dubious about the fancy rose with leaves etc being the LH arm badge, it would so easily be broken.

.... its definitely bullion and cloth. The Officers Slouch hat badge is 5cm x 5cm ...... so that arm badge is smaller than that?

It is a great pity that the late R.J.Smith never got round to writing a book on the Lancashire Hussars, one was planned in the series of Yeomanry books published by the Army Museums Ogilby Trust and he actually had a relative who had served in the Regiment ( and had all the research) but the book was never written, it might certainly have answered a few questions.

And that’s a potential problem I think a lot of images seem to get played about with.
Some I feel (not your good-self, Mike) let their own confirmation bias affect the tints and auto-contrasts applied to century old unclear photos to make them closer to what they want to see. |

... that image is the DLOY ....and the (metal) collars look a bit smaller than the rose on the LHY Sgt I think?
