UNKNOWN ARAB BADGE
Could any Forum member help identify this Arab badge for me?
It has a pin fitting to the reverse. Possible British manufacture? Kind regards, Malcolm. |

From our colleague Eddie Parks: Arab Legion. It can be a head dress badge or collar depending on size.
The Arabic reads al jaysh al arabi - The Arab Army, a title it takes from the old Arab Army of WW1 period. on20/01/11 Jo

There was some correspondence on this badge when I posted one for identification a month ago. It also included a translation of the inscription, curtesy of Eddie Parks, and information about Transjordan. David

Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for all your comments/links etc. They have all been very helpful and I am extremely grateful. The badge measures 43mmx45mm so I presume it is for the headress. The example shown in the library picture is dated 1964. What date would anyone guess my example to be? Or is that impossible to know? Kind regards, Malcolm. |
