Just done a quick web search to check if any of their stuff is cached.
6th November 2013. Lot 90 1st Lincolnshire (Lincoln) RV Pouch Belt Plate c.1860-83. It’s the one in the image but this an additional ‘Ready’ lower scroll. Last edited by Keith Blakeman; 02-11-20 at 01:41 PM. |

What about this one: http://www.britisharmybadges.com/shop.php?ps=1&pg=2#
Second from the top. As the text says, probably also used by the 2nd Lincolnshire RVC (1888 - 1883) Westlake says that the 1st was uniformed scarlet with yellow facings and the 2nd scarlet with blue facings. That would then mean that the picture shows 1st Lincolnshire Rifle Volunteer Corps (1880 - 1883).

1st Volunteer Battn Lincs Regt
Dear All. Thanks again for your expert help and responses. It now seems that I have the answer that I was hoping for, ie that the gentleman in the photo is an officer of the 1st Lincolnshire Rifle Volunteer Corps and I am now convinced that it is, in deed, Arthur Ellwood, later to become Lt Col OC 1st Volunteer Battn Lincolnshire Regiment; his son Arthur, who survived WW1 in 4th Battn Lincs Regt, later rose to become OC of the 4th Battn.
A final question if I may - not having any experience whatsoever of buying badges, I wonder if I might gauge the consensus of opinion on the cost of the pouch belt badge advertised by Coldstream Military Antiques (£300) - fair? Kind regards to all for sharing your knowledge and time. Stewart |

You can be content in knowing that their badges are as described and certainly original. They have badges for sale that you may never see elsewhere. i would say this badge is one of those. The prices are accordingly high but if you really want it then its worth it. regards

I think the price is realistic considering the rarity of the item and that it is being sold by a high-end dealer.
There’s always the chance you could strike it lucky on eBay or in an antique shop etc. and find one a bit cheaper but being realistic I’d say the chances of that is low and it could be a very long wait, years. |

Just to put this one to bed, British Army Badges Item No.53570 has the helmet plate. It's a very generic pattern and I can see the similarity to the Loyal North Lancs mentioned in an early post.
