Small vickers machine gun badge - 6th Gurkhas
Slightly odd post this in that I don't have an example of the "mystery badge" - but I've just come across a reference in the 6th Gurkhas Regimental history - "In 1928 machine gunners wore a small metal badge of a Vickers machine gun on the left hand side of the field service hat" - I don't think I've ever seen an example of this badge which I assume is similar to the Machine Gun Corps badge ( or maybe not as there's no mention of crossed Vickers guns ) - so I was wondering whether any forum member has a strange Vickers gun badge that they've never properly identified? Or indeed if a member has the badge and knew what it was? - Would love to see any "likely suspects" ! Tim

hi Tim
it was only the other day i was looking at a collection of MG badges and noticed this badge. dont think its what your discussing or what it is. it may even be a fantasy badge but its described as NEPALESE/NORTHERN INDIA GURKHA MACHINE GUN SECTION OFFICER’S STERLING SILVER CAP BADGE. KING’S CROWN OVER CROSSED VICKERS OVER A KRIS FIGHTING KNIFE. REAR MARKED “STERLING”. TWO LUGS TO REAR. very unusual cheers BC |

In conversation with Ashok Nath - he sent me this photo of a badge to the MG Btn of the Rajputana Rifles worn on the collars only. I suspect that the 6GR was similar to this ( ie without a crown ) - he'd not heard of the 6GR connection before. Does any member have a similar MGC badge ( sans crown ) ?
