Default Order of the Bath rank stars query

Can someone tell me who who wear these badges, where and when please? They are a enamelled brass miniature of the Order of the Bath badge complete with Ich Dien on a scroll. They are just under 1 inch across and have a screw thread and square nut on the back.

They are Eversleigh Star variants and adopted initially by the South Wales Borderers in the 1890s and later copied by the Middlesex Regiment in the 1920s. If you do a forum search using the terms 'Eversleigh Star' you will read all the details. The motive was just to be different and not because of any special incident.

They are still worn by the successor regiments, the Royal Welsh and the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment.
