Badges removed from a damaged wooden shield
All these badge were removed from a badly damaged wooden shield. All cast with small spikes on the back. The signals type one is larger than the others. Can they be identified please?

Only thing I can say is that because of the Ashoka Lions they are Republic of India (post 1950) related.

Can't identify or comment on the badges , will leave that to Gukha specialists but did find an example of one of the shields. (see photo)
It does appear that a lot of "Gurka" badges were not all they appeared to be. Quote:

The top left is Queen's Gurkha Signals design which was re-formed in the early 1950s.

I think some of these are made-up fantasy Gurkha badges, but I think Tim will be able to make a conclusive identification.

The badge with what appears to be a Liver Bird on it is most certainly rare if it ,or any of the other badges ,turn out to be actually genuine. I am certainly not holding my breath.

Spotted some more of these pin/spike badges that look like they have come off one of these shields .
One same style as photo # 6 but with a scroll at bottom of wheel (described as transport ) except top part appears to be Indian Army Service Corps. ? Another one 61st Cavalry badge with crossed kukri underneath ? Crown Stafford Knot crossed kukri (Baluch Regt ???) ? https://militarybadgecollection.com/...own-badges.htm .

It seems that everything becomes more interesting (read: sells better) when you add some crossed khukris to it
I have a few khukris (real ones, not badges) here at home. Whenever I sell the house I will nail them onto the front door and raise the price of the house accordingly.

Yes, it was a good investment in the seventies in Nepal. Now we are going to cash.

Badges on a board
Soldier magazine used to have ads in for this type of thing, generally Ghurka based with fantasy badges and crossed kukris.
No doubt some were bought by punters and the badges removed. Rob |

So basically they are rubbish and can be melted down for toy soldiers or binned.
