Malabar Rifle Volunteers
Hi have tried to google this badge, unfortunately not much came out other than formed in 1885, and changed due to amalgamation in 1917, any information on the badge would be appreciated! Many thanks Billy

This is what I can tell you about the lineage: The Nilgiri Malabar Battalion. Not much more then you already know.
I have seen images of that badge with a VC also.

Hi Henk, Wikipedia had the Victorian Crowned listed as a "Cap Badge" this with the Kings Crown as "Collars"? Need to open link up in phone as not being allowed to on tablet?

This is the one I found somewhere.
When you mean this article Malabar Volunteer Rifles, I do not see much there about badges, but personally I have no idea about the mix of QVC and KC badges. I also seem to have missed that the unit was itself a merger from Calicut and Tellicherry. Will try to check that. As far as I know there are no restrictions from my side, or from the server the pages are on, on access from whatever browser on what ever operating system on whatever hardware. It is a simple HTML page with no scripting or even cookies. Thus strange you have problems displaying it.

Henk its Google on my tablet everything is a security risk and doesn't show, Also seen the Malabar Volunteer Rifles came from those you mentioned, a nice badge with what appears to be a short life?
Thanks for your input all the best billy |

Personally I block from Google as much as I can. And I do not quite understand how they find a security risk in a complete passive web page. Quote:
But as the unit started life in 1885 a QVC would be valid until the Queen passed away. And probably then being used until damaged/lost and not in stock anymore. So guess at least 15 - 20 years.

Well, when you compare with, on the same page, the Nilgiri VR (14 years) and the Coimbatore VRC (7 years). And together they lived on for another 30 years. So a seniority claim of 69 years for the merged unit (but I admit I am older already )
