Default UK Rising Sun

Hi all,

I have collected about 30 odd rising sun badges over the years, I have never chased anything in particular, but if you rummage about enough you do pick up the odd gem.

Here are a couple of badges I picked up separately, but are of the same unknown manufacturer. I believe they're British only because of the type of lugs used.

Has anyone any information or know of the manufacturer?

I have the details of the 1st AIF soldier one of these belonged to, the other I didn't realise I had till sorting through my badges the other day.

If there are any other angles of the badges you'd like me to take please ask.

Any info much appreciated.

Dan

G'day Dan

Looking at the 2 badges Id agree that judging from the shape of the 2 voids at the ends of the scrolls as they are the same shape, but we still cant identify the maker.

And looking at the lugs on both badges they seem to have the flat hex sided lugs seen on a lot of early Cavalry (what I collect) shoulder titles especially those prior to the 1922 amalgamations. Could you do some clearer shots of the lugs with out the cotter pins so we can clearly see the shape of the lugs.

Regards

Phil.

Thanks Dan

Yes that's the angle that I was after and Id say without a doubt it is English made as Ive never seen another Aussie badge with the flat, hex sided lugs. A rare beast indeed. But that still doesn't help with the ID of the maker.

Thanks Phil,

Very much appreciate the feedback.

It was a nice surprise to find the second one of these among my collection, it's been quite some time since I looked through my badges.

Just a shame we can't identify a manufacturer.

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan

As far as I know there were many makers of the Rising Suns and apart from Tiptaft of Birmingham, KG Luke and Stokes and Sons the rest of the WW 1 Rising Suns are un named and there are only a couple more for WW2.

I wouldn't get too hung up about, I don't.

Regards

Phil.
