Help with identity badge.

Hi. My name is chris. I am happy to say I am now at that stage in my life when I can spend more time on my hobbys. I am very interested in the royal engineers during the Victorian period. I would like some help in identifying this badge. I would like to think it is a RE badge,possibly 1st London engineer volunteers. The book on engineer volunteers by Westlake shows a photo of the 1st shooting team wearing brodick cap, possibly with this badge. Any help would be much appreciated.thanks.
