Default Interesting pip

Hi All
I picked up this pip the other day because I haven't seen one like this before. It seems to be a fairly standard service dress pip but 2-piece. All the others I've seen have been one piece. Is this a makers variation or maybe a dress pip for a particular unit? If it's a makers variation, can anybody ID the maker?
Thanks in advance. Cheers,
Alex

Alex,

I once had a large collection of crowns and pips and was amazed at the variety, particularly with pips.
Never found a maker marked one and never found one like yoours.

The only 2 part construction ones I found were large pips with gilt and enamel centre on a silver star.

regards

Alex
