Default Officers Royal Artillery unknown badge

Hi all! bought this thinking it was bigger! And likely to be a Helmet Plate, also knowing it had a broken Crown! "Pity that"

Well when it arrived it was a lot lot smaller than I had imagined and grubby , now cleaned up its really nice Gilding, the missing Crown could it have been Victorian, or a Kings Crown? K & K (page 221, Busby badge (804 Victorian Crown) and (805 Imperial Crown) this being the one I think it is but nice to see an intact one to compare if someone might post a picture?

Not really practible to repair but would be nice, but then the Gilding is then gone! Nice how it is! Any info pictures on these worn would be appreciated, many thanks and enjoy, billy

Its the applied front overlay off an Officers busby grenade badge with the crown snapped off.

This same broken badge has recently been shown on here, cant find the thread.

Hi Simon came out nice after a clean, and on starting the thread checked out my K & K now freed from spare room while back bedroom being decorated! All books put back now and shelves back on wall, so reference books now at arms reach, didn't know this had been posted on the Forum? but why not! obtained from Ebay last week.

Would there have been a backing material behind the badge? Depending on what I end up mounting this on I'll either place a Black or Red piece of Felt behind it to show off the badge a bit better, but would be better to know correct colour so as to ensure same isn't used on board.

Cheers billy

Billy,

Look at the photo, its broken off the front of one of these. Mine is Silver for Volunteers, yours is gilt for Regulars.
No backing cloth.
