Cool Wolds Wagoners Badge

A very scarce Wolds Wagoners mufti lapel badge i was hoping to win on eBay. Stopped bidding at £125, final sale price £325!!!!!!!! WOW! Wagoners formed part of the ASC in the first war raised from estate works on Sledmere estate in East Yorkshire. If any forum member won this item you have a very special item and i am pleased for them. If they ever want to get rid of it please bear me in mind!!

An awful lot of money!
Although interestingly, I see DNW sold a 1914 Star trio and the particular lot included one of those badges, for £1200 in 2015.

Sean,
not seen this article but Sledmere house shop have on sale currently a 60 page privately published book on the unit including roll of honour and nominal roll. Not sure if this is available outside the museum (museum being a stall in the old stable converted, small but very interesting). Well worth a read and supporting the museum. The local monument to the wagoners is magnificent and well worth a viewing, next time i am up there i will take some photos as the panels really are a work of art.

Dave

PS. still miffed i missed out on this but it went for silly money.

Saw this, lovely collection but it looks a complete group which sadly is not always the case. The medals for the Wolds Wagoners have a unique distinction as each recipients name is preceded by `Wagoner`.

I always thought the Stars was merely impressed "WGNR" after the number, are you saying these Stars are spurious?

Badges are authentic, and you are correct in the abbreviated wagoner reading WGNR
