Royal West Kent Officer Cap
Just won this on ebay, very nice example, and unusual, not seen one to the West Kents, for quite a while. I think I got it for a good price.
It is named: Capt R. C.W.T. so perhaps a chance of attributing it....? Tom |

To narrow the search, no officer with those initials in the Army List for April 1950.

Great stuff, and with apologies ,I have now found him in the April 1950 Army List.
P.B. ( and no one has asked if the badge appears to be right or not )

UK and USA - two nations divided by a common language
The two citations above are fascinating. Compare the wording of the understated and restrained OBE citation with that for the Silver Star - presumably written by the wordsmiths of HQ US Eighth Army. As the Military Secretary used to say apropos of Officers' Confidential Reports - UK Satisfactory = US Exceptionally Outstanding. But I'm sure that he thoroughly deserved both awards.

Oh and he was an author too...
25 books and counting, everything from his time at Elam Halfa to El Alamein, to his time in Korea and how to live in the army, oh and how to be a brilliant Cricket Captain! http://www.google.co.uk/search?tbo=p...stan+Thomas%22 Last edited by Unknownsoldier; 19-02-13 at 03:27 AM. |
