Default Unknown badges

Hi all,

In this old photograph I recognise the Leicestershire Regiment band pouch badge as the bottom badge of the Tiger over Roman XVII. On the back of the card is written 3rd Cheshire Rifle Volunteers for I presume the badge at top left.

The 98 and 87 badges are certainly not glengarries to line regiments and they are likely to be other Rifle Volunteer or militia badges as the bugle-horn for the 98 appears as a common device for RV badges as does the stringed bugle-horn with 87.

Any thoughts on these units ? I have only "Britons To Arms" by Glenn Steppler to go by here outside of Kipling & King.

The "pirate" badge top right is a complete mystery to me ?

Guidance appreciated, cheers Dean.
