Very nice Mick, be aware that according to Bernard Cox, The Dress Distinctions of the VIII King's Royal Irish Hussars as Worn at the time of the Amalgamation of the Regiment in 1958, Langridge's Military Publications 1959 the QC O/R Badge was not worn by the regiment.

Hi John,

That scanned page on that thread says that the QC collars were worn by officers and the RSM on No 1 dress. At least that is my interpretation of it. I had to enlarge it a bit to read it.

Yes Mick that is correct, the book documents what Bernard Cox observed and learned from the regiment regarding its dress distinctions at the point at which it ceased to exist and was amalgamated with the 4th Hussars.

What you see is a regiment in transition with officers and the RSM having partially adopted QC insignia, he records that,

* QC versions of the officers cap badge were in use and worn side by side with KC versions
* Bronzed QC versions of the service dress collar badges (Officers and RSM) were in use again worn side by side with KC versions.
* QC versions of the silver and gilt collar badges for no 1 and no 3 dress were in use.

with regard to other ranks he states that QC cap badges and QC collar badges were "never worn within the regiment".

Nice display Mick, even though the QC ORs was allegedly not worn, I think you need it for completion of the set. There may be different evidence come to light later.

Hi Mick

Nice group.

Here is a photo of my collection. I agree with John that the QC badge was not worn in the regiment but I have included a copy in my collection simply because it's a nice quality item.

Regards

Bob

The bullion ones are hard to find mate. You don't see them very often. I probably paid too much for one and the other was a steal.
