Default ASC - Indian post-partition?

I've had these slip-ons for many years and often wondered about them.
My thoughts are that they are post independence Indian. Can anyone confirm or otherwise?

Because the stars are not British, they are definitely post independence. I would guess that they are even post 1950 (India becoming a republic), because there would be no reason the change the stars from the British type earlier.
