Default Royal Northumberland Fusiliers beret

Help please if possible, I'm after dates for the introduction of the blue beret, also Denis Wood refers to a khaki beret, whereabouts does that fit in timewise?

Thanks very much
Alli

The midnight blue beret first appears in 1947; the khaki beret and khaki GS cap preceded it.
Both coloured berets can often be seen within the same group in the late 1940s/early 50s as some units adopted the practice of regulars wearing the khaki beret and National Servicemen the blue one.

I've just posted some odds and ends on headdress in the Headdress section that help answer your questions.
