Battledress Date Letters
A friend has asked if the date of manufacture of this BD blouse can be established from the date letter stamped which appears to be a Q. The original label has been removed.
Can anyone help please? Thanks Jon |

Battle dress made in 1940 ( if really "Q").

Strictly speaking the letter identifies the year of approval by the RAOC inspector rather than the date of manufacture. Yes, it is a Q so 1940.

And my list!
Post WW2 the letters seem to straddle two years. 1939 R 1940 Q 1941 P 1942 O 1943 N 1944 M 1945 L Z 1946 L 1947 E R 1948 R 1949 A J 1950 A B 1951 C B 1952 C 1953 L M 1954 O M 1955 O T 1956 T 1957 S F 1958 1959 X |
