Badge shipping
OK lads this one is first for me. I have been receiving badges in the post for up wards of 15 years.
I have received them in cigarette packs, wrapped in brown paper bags and securely taped together, Coffee cups and small tins, and many other things. I have even received a badge rolled in a sock and covered with the old heavy printer paper. Usually though its in bubble pack envelopes, very well sealed and the lugs protected by cardboard. This is pretty much standard. Today, I got a badge in the post that came in a box. Not a little tiny ring box however, this box is about 8 inches high and 6 inches square. I love this. Postage was only 2.00 to me but I assume the seller paid a lot more to ship it. Needless to say the badge is in perfect order, it did not suffer any damage in shipping. On top of it all, this is a Type 2, RCAF cap badge. Quite worn and very common. I will post this badge in the Air Force section of the Canadian Badges.

Hmm WELL if it was an Ebay purchase and their new rules vendors are taking no more chances on items getting lost or damaged. In the near furure you will see many vendors disappear as they must now use paypal only and they must send items with proof of receipt which in CANADA IS EXPENSIVE so big changes are coming by OCTOBER

Thanks for the reply Paul. It was an eBay purchase. I can not for the life of me understand why eBay would force such silliness on its members, when they let thieves and frauds run rampant.
Seems to me the seller lost money on this badge. I got it for $5.00 and shipping was $2.00, I paid with paypal. After all the fees are taken into account and the cost the seller must have paid to send this to me, I suspect his profit would not have been more than $1.50 or so. At that rate, sellers must be flocking away from that site. (Although it doesn't seem so at the moment) What I do see is an increase in starting bid amounts.
