Default Cast Iron Sixth, opinions please

Again, a badge I have had for years and has come under the spotlight as I review my collecting and focus on a specific topic. I won't be offended if the opinion is negative.

CB,
"Cast Iron Sixth" was the Regiment's nickname because of the blackened badge!!

Matti,
front looks good to me, but slider is shorter than I'd like to see on a London Regt badge, all the good ones tend to protrude below the bottom of the badge? It's a pre 1935 badge so a longer slider would be more characteristic?

Matti,
just enlarged the rear image of your slider!! Much happier with it on closer inspection... good hunting for the voided badge!

Thank you Andy. I'm having a clear out and sort. I wouldn't want to sell anything that I'm not 100% certain about and I don't want to keep any wrong 'uns either.

Hi Matti, I like the front of it too, mine has the same mark at the top left of the cross as you look, mine is voided centre though. Slider is a bit longer on mine with a crimp line, not too visible on the scan as it's full of black ! Think I'd be happy to have that in my album mate. I've seen 2 of those Tiptaft ones now Tony, last one was very soft if I remember rightly. All the best lads,
Wilf.
P.S A mate of mine knew a vet from the 6th, he said they were known as the Fleet Street Pals !

Thank you Wilf and the info about the fault line is useful too. The more I read the more of an impression I get that there was a distinct hierarchy in the London Regiment...

Although I'd always prefer it to be voided, it's the first solid one I'd be 'happy' to keep with the caveat that it would be on it's way as soon as a voided one came up. Here mine for reference - very similar to Wilf's but without the fault to the top left of the cross.

The slider is identical with a crimp but not visible as it's braized higher on the tablet.

There's no reason why the Tiptaft ones shouldn't be OK, I have a 21st Middx RV which isn't that strong and it's an unusual brand.
