Hi Tony,
I have a similar badge but with blades and slightly darker, one of the the later badges to still be worn as OSD versions, I wonder if yours is ' subdued ' for wear in combat, for example were the Fusiliers in Ireland ?? Dave. |

Royal Fusiliers QC Bronze finish
It could be a Birmingham Mint badge like this one:
For details of the "set" produced in the early 1970s See http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...irmingham+Mint and http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ead.php?t=7317

The Royal Fusiliers' officers wore a bronzed bladed SD badge. Boslys Buywyze has a Q/C example in their current catalgoue.
The ORs wore the brass k/c one up to 1958. There was an a/a Q/C version which was worn by the TA Bn I believe. In my album you can see a Gaunt Bham brass Q/C version but this is unlikely to be contempory as I cannot find any record of a sealed brass q/v version. Upon creation of the Brigade system, the RF Bn wore the Fusiliers Bde badge in a/a with a white hackle from 1958. they did not revert to their old badge in 1968 but kept the RRF badge as did the other Fusilier Bns. |

BIRMINGHAM MINT
It is almost certainly, 100% a "Birmingham Mint" badge! See the full set below and your badge in particular!

BIRMINGHAM MINT - King's Own - OSD Finish
Alan,
I thought once I'd completed the set, it would be safe to frame them! As there would be no more to get!! (I'm still missing a KOYLI, popped a collar in for now). Since framing I have acquired an OSD finished King's Own (Silvered example in frame) and also a Lancs Fus with a siver sphinks and laurel, whereas the one in the frame has a gilt S&L.. That's badge collecting for you! How many more variations of BM badges are out there? Andy |

I wanted to confirm that this one was not part of the set. It is plated brass and fortunately does not match.

Hello all ,
heres a Royal Leicestershire Regiment badge ,it is one of those badges as soon as you've paid the dealer, your wishing you had'nt bothered. Having looked at the Birmingham mint collection posted by Andy, it looks as though it's one of them ,can I have your opinions on this one please . Regards Tony. Maybe an album showing obverse and reverse of this series of badges is called for!

Tony,
Yes a definite Birmingham Mint - just like this one! Note the tangs securing the overlaid scrolls.

Just to add to the RF QC here are pictures of my OSD which I have had for years. I was surprised by the price guide in the latest Bosleys postal catalogue.
