Royal Scots Greys
Hello,
I would like the help of the forum please in dating this cap. I know the bi-metal badge was worn 1903 to 1963 when it was replaced by the anodised type. I suspect the cap is 1940s-1963. I welcome the opinion of the forum please... Thank you for looking, Keith

Not a subject I know much about, but it has a leather band so older than the 50's - 60's I think.

Pretty sure the RSG didn’t wear dicing, their balmoral had the Vandyke pattern.
This Glengarry shown is available from numerous sources originating from Pakistan Such as here Last edited by Paul Spellman; 29-10-19 at 04:04 PM. Reason: Predictive text error |

The successor regiment, the RSDG's bandmen do wear Glengarrys but it is plain dark blue.
This does rather suggest that the hat is not for the RSG either as the RSDG took the Scottish uniform details from the RSG rather than the Carbineers who being Welsh did not have a pipe band to my knowledge. |

The Glen in question has nothing to do with the RSG, rather it is for either the London Scottish or the Toronto Scottish regiments. It is likely a WW2 or prior example, although leather bands were available after this time frame for awhile.

I believe there is another Commonwealth regiment besides the Toronto Scottish that wore this color dicing. CB |

The London Scottish did indeed wear a plain black glengarry with a light blue tourie.
