Hi Jon, I'm quite happy at what it is, but what's with the insignia? Is it worn and by whom? PM me if you'd rather mate.

Default Patch worn by Permanent Staff

Hi guys apologies.
The patches are what are worn by the staff instructors who teach SERE skills (previously COMBAT AND SURVIVAL) to all the services
"The Defence Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Extraction (SERE) Training Organisation (DSTO) has been based at RAF St Mawgan since December 2008; it is a Tri-Service organisation formed by the co-location of the Royal Navy and RAF survival schools and the Resistance Training Wing."
The instructors are NOT necessarily SF, but i obtained these from a member of 22, and therefore it seemed apt to place them in this area.

In my first post, the reason for edit gave the answer as to what SERE stood for, as did the badge in your second pattern post.

Here is SERE patch from my collection. Probably US and possibly from the Vietnam period. I added the sticker so I could remember what SERE stood for!
