Having spent that amount isn't it worth buying a replacement plaque with the correct wording for a few dollars and just opening the frame and sticking it in?

It'd avoid having to discuss the sapper / private thing with people who admire it in years to come too.

I'm not familiar with your usage of "special"?
Does it simply mean that you're not that concerned?
