Default Northants Regt

This bullion badges comprises only the castle and battle honours of the Northamptonshire Regiment. It measures 40 x 55mm.
It has been described as a 1940's officers cap badge, but I have been unable to find any verification of this yet. I suspect its origins are earlier, but post-1901/2 due to the style of Gibraltar Castle.

Can anyone please tell me more about this one please?

Stephen.

Stephen,

On pages 383 and 384 of "The British Army: Its Regimental Records, Badges, Devices etc" (1888) by Major J. H. Lawrence-Archer, it describes for The Northamptonshire Regiment;

"On the forage cap - The Castle and Key in gold embroidery. Above the word "GIBRALTER", below the word "TALAVERA" each in gold embroidery on a blue silk scroll"

I hope this is of some help.

Regards,

Andy
