Hi Bob,
Peter may know better but I would of expected a Liver Bird design rather than a General Pattern, thats not to say it may be wrong though. Image of my pouch badge attached Paul Last edited by Paul Spellman; 29-01-15 at 04:46 PM. |

Simon,
Very simple answer, I don't know but I am going to check with a couple of people later to confirm that it is ( or is not ) the correct centre for the item. Peter

It now appears that there may have been a number of variations of the design of the centre of the Liverpool Press Guard other ranks waist belt clasp.
This one appeared in an article by W.Y. Carman in the MHS Bulletin of February 2003 (Issue 211) and is described as "Early 1860`s white metal WBC " Closer comparison makes me confident that the wbc in Bobs first post is the same WBC which is illustrated in Garry Gibbs article in the Bulletin of November 2002, the scratch marks are identical It may be that the wbc with the crown in the centre is a much later example. I have a couple more leads to follow which may or may not confirm the existence of different centres. P.B.
