Uniform for identification
Attached image shows shoulder and collar badges with what may be 3 feathers (Fleur de Lis?). Can anyone identify the regiment and maybe an approximate date of the picture, to help me identify the person. Sorry about the quality. Please let me know if I'm misusing the forum to essentially identify a uniform when the badges are out of focus.

I suggest 10th Hussars - not sure why the medal is on the wrong side?

Indian mutiny medal 1857 which is odd as the sword is 1908 pattern which would make him quite old! Assuming the photo is just transposed.

I think that is a sound idea, he is wearing his relatives medal on the other side as we do today.

Fuller picture attached
As requested. Cropped a little off top and bottom to get the height below the site limit. I believe his name is George Swales, born 1891 so the medal date is confusing. Spoke too soon about the enlistment record. I found a Short Service Attestation dated 1907 for a George Swales but birth date was 1899 and regiment selected was 18th Hussars so it's not him
