Regarding the WW II medals and stars : UK issued them without the recipients' names, but Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa put the names on them.

Canada did not name 2Ww medals officially, altho some elected to have their medals named unofficially, also note that
the CVSM, Defence & War medals are silver & not the cupro nickel issues, thus worth more - ie: the CVSM medal you have is .925 silver worth approx C $40.

The George V Royal Naval Long service medal that you have will be named with the Rating, s Official Number, Name, Rank/Rate, & Ship he was on when he qualified for it - likely in the 1930, s period.

Also he could have 1WW medals & possibly 2WW medals,, be a very good idea to check the 1WW medals you have to determine if one or more might be the same name - if so, PLEASE don't split them up!

If he qualified for 2WW medals they would be un named.

The George VI Army LS medal will be similar but he would likely only have 2WW Medals which are un named.

In regards the British Medals Forum, as others have mentioned, there is no point in you showing your medals on that Forum as they are very exclusive & have so many restrictive rules, you wont get anywhere!

Top row, second from right is the South African 'Pro Patria' medal. Issued roughly between 1972-1994 for' services rendered in the prevention and combatting of terrorism'. In effect, anyone who served for more than 30 consecutive days in the defined 'operational area' of South-West Africa (now Namibia) was eligible.

That's normal with 1WW medals - its not a big issue for most collectors.

1st Battalion LNL Regiment did well in South Africa and fought a curious war from inception on the Western Front, their Commanding Officer was besieged in Kimberley with only a portion of his battalion, although, Dickinson was not one of them, notwithstanding, still a very handsome and most pleasing pair, whatsoever their condition.
