I believe that this is an original and correct chrome metal version of the SBA crown, I hope Mr P that you dont mind me linking to your picture.

Phil
Sorry but I believe that the badge shown in the link is a Scottish prison officer badge and NOT for the SBA police. They wore the gold colour A/A badge then went on to wear the police style badge. See below

Sorry, I misunderstood what I was being told. I thought before that the badge was chrome too.

This is the 1st issue SBA Police CB. It is 37mm x 40mm. This particular example has two loops. However the same badge can be found with a slider. It was/is used by several Government Dept's. Currently, civilian security officers of the Metrpolitan Police wear it on a plain dark blue cap.

The war dept police(cyprus), the army depot police(cyprus), the security force police all had chrome badges and only with the queens crown. The RAF Police Auxiliaries also had a chrome badge but came with kings crown and queens crown

I'm glad that i have found a SBA cap badge, the first of my Cyprus section! Only a few more to go and that elusive Gib green enamel.

i emailed sba via their website and they never replied. i also tried emailing gib police to see if they had any surplus that they could sell, no response there either, not even in the negative. its the first time ive ever had a total blank when enquiring to mod/services. Even HMS illustrious was in regular contact with me over the smallest of details that i enquired about.

thanks for sharing jerry,

Phil

Hi Phil, please find attached image of SBA Police Constable Moustafa wearing the RAF uniform with the diced band fitted and showing the QC badge worn at that time by the force. The force at this time came under the RAF for clothing and supplies.
