Peter,

The one on the left looks like Dover College.

I've only seen the second design as a medal - a reproduction of the centre design of a medal or one that's had the silver part of it melted down, and the central design lugged as a badge?

I've checked through thre only couple of books on medals I have, no trace, Googling shows what I'm thinking of here, "Honourific Titular Medal":

http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/ind...?topic=21524.0

I had the opportunity to buy a group with one of the all silver versions of the medal years ago but I was zeroing in on WWI British medals at the time.

Sorry, only half an answer, perhaps half a red herring.

Thanks Leigh,

Found attached, perhaps part of a medal or a badge to be worn ( instead of the complete medal ) to show you have the award ?

My grandfather attended Dover College after the First World War and was in the OTC. It put him in good stead to study dentistry at the University of Birmingham, followed by a dental surgery fellowship at the University of Edinburgh. Followed by wartime service as a dental surgeon, RNVR.
