info for dummies
How about setting this dummy straight . Here is a tunic for sale with, as far as I can see an inverted chevron on the lower left sleeve seems like a regular size chevron, Can you tell me what it means. http://cgi.ebay.com/WW2-Canadian-Med...d=p3911.c0.m14

Ray,this is Good Conduct Badge. These were granted to those under the rank of Corporal(in the Infantry) or Bombardier (in the RCA),as a "token of approbation of good conduct. All service in the CASF or CA/A or pre-war Permanent Force counted, and if after two years a soldier's name had not been entered in the unit's conduct book,he was granted a Good Conduct badge.
Additional badges were granted for five years (two stripes),12 years (three stripes) and so on.My guess is that nobody was lucky enough,in those years, to have more than one stripe. An, yes,it is an inverted Lance-Jack chevron. Cheers Ray. Jo

LOL Ray, you can not take my title of DUMMY. I earned it fair and square. One only has to read a few of posts to understand me.
Jo not sure it was memtioned or not but the good conduct stripe was awarded for two years good service YES, however it should be amended to include two years of not getting caught.
