Default Infantry School Corps: pre RCR badges

An amazing set of Infantry School Corps officer's bullion wire and gilt cap and collar badges currently on auction. From Australia!!!
Despite all the bitc$#%^ about web auction sites, they do offer unique opportunities. Here we have a rare set of badges being offered, which will hopefully find their way home. Spectacular.

I will certainly be following this one closely. It is interesting to note the seller's addition of a note identifying that he has received 5 requests for an early close and private sale.

Well Well....Beautiful indeed and I must say I,ve not seen this pattern before. I have the metal ISC multi piece collars but didn't know a bullion type existed.

Good Question......It looks like something that may be a mess dress item if it was from the 20's or 30's but as you know it is much earlier.I have a photo around here of an ISC officer in Patrol dress wearing what appears to be a bullion badge on his forage cap and will post if I can find it.
My off the cuff guess for the cap badge anyway is an Officers bullion badge for wear on the visored pill box style forage cap worn with patrols.

Default Major Henri Beaufort Vidal I.S.C. 1882

Here it is. The photo is of Major Henri Beaufort Vidal who was Born in Chatham Ontario 16 May 1843.Entered the Militia of Canada (Lambton Militia 3rd Bttn)1860,then joined the British Army in May 1862 with service in the Mediterranean,India,Abyssinia,4th Regt Foot.
Upon Retirement from Imperial service entered the 7th Battn Fusiliers here in London Ontario, then a Major with 12th (York) Battn.Transfeered to the permanent corps 1882 as Major Ifantry School Corps.
YOU CAN SEE THE BADE IS OF SIMILAR PATTERN with a somewhat broader and larger cypher at the bottom....magnifying it seems to show "PRO PATRIA" the same motto as on the badge in question and still motto of the RCR.

Default No worries

Fair and open market economy will dictate the price I guess. Lets see what happens. I think it will be very interesting

Default Museum marks...

Looks as if these had been in a museum before as they appear to have cataloguing markings on the reverse...Interesting.

Some thoughts about these badges.
As officer's bullion wire, each of these was probably hand made. They would likely differ in the bullion embroidered part for each badge for each order, while the metal portion would likely be the same for each badge.
There were not a large number of officers in the Infantry School Corps, but could the badges be identified to the particular officer?

Agreed Bill...These badges like the bullion types used by local Militia regts here would be private purchase from both Cdn and British sources. The pattern is the same and the difference in size etc could be simply the difference in Cdn or British examples or simply differences between the Makers regardless of Geography.
If one had photos of the 4 companies which I believe were London,Halifax,Toronto and Montreal you may be able to spot the different types on the officers. The photo examples at Wolesley Barracks contain alot of East coast and csome London types, but havn't seen many with the bullion badge although I,m sure officers, especially senior ones would have had them made.
Major Vidal for example, given his Imperial service, may have had his uniforms continually made by English Firms.
I have a period uniform to the Lt. Colonel of the 26th Militia(Middlesex) dating from 1868 and all pieces and accoutrements including helmet, belts, sash, spurs, etc are all made by Hobson in England.
