Australian Corps of Signals - *The Super Rare Hat Badge*

This is one of the rarest badges from the 1930 to 42 period.

Enjoy!

Default Australian Corps of Signals

Dear Mick

Delighted to see these badges. Cliff Lord told me that there was such a badge but I had never seen one before. Absolutely delighted.

Did you receive my email with a request for a picture of one on my backing??

Best wishes

Chris Walker

Hi Chris,

No email received.

These are probably amongst the rarest Australian badges of all time.

Mine are a matching pair of collars but wondered if a cap had ever been made in the same style.

Do you have a picture of yours? I'd be very interested to see them as they are super rare.

According to Cossum's book it is unknown if a hat badge exists.

Here you are Slick Mick. Lovely pair of Aus Sigs collars. Does any one have a cap? Suspect the cap was never made. Seem to remember Festburg indicating there was a cap but I have never seen one.

Very nice - they are they 1st opposing collars I have seen in many years of collecting! I have never seen a cap badge (Cossum has it as unknown) so it may well be a case of a collar being worn as a cap badge.

Hi Mick and Quicksilver,
I'm not sure where my badge fits in. Here's a picture.

It's the more commonly seen version.

Question Super Rare Badge

Dear Slick-Mick and Quicksilver.

From the above thread, I now have a small query.

When the Australian Corps of Signals was formed on 1st January 1925 after breaking away from the Australin Engineers. There must have been a cap badge as the the roundal badge with the Certa Cito scroll at the bottom did not come into existance until I think 1931.

Now if as Quicksilver says in his thread he thought Festburg thought there was a cap badge but never seen. Slick-Mick says Cossum says unknown. There must have been something worn in the way of a cap badge during this six year period.

If the Australian Corps of Signallers had a cap badge and collars surely the Australian Corps of Signals as a new branch would have had a cap badge and collars and not just a collar badge used as a cap badge??????

Comments please on a white five pound note to the usual address.

Kind regards

Chris

Sadly I have nothing more to add....

Looks like it will require further research.
