Could've been an administrative officer, with no aircrew qualification

It's interesting, the label says "Warrant Officer", so maybe he was commissioned from the ranks. Given that it has the broad arrow symbol, a wartime commission in the field maybe?

Should this not have red Eagle patches on the shoulders?

The red eagles were for F/Sgt and below. If this had been worn by a Warrant Officer they would not have been worn, and again if he had then been commissioned.
Might have just been a case of supply. Uniform stores were not as plentiful in the tropics so might have been issued a WO uniform in lieu of an Officer one. |

Might have been "appropriated".

WO Jacket
Hello. Mike,
Is there any evidence of badges been sewn on the lower sleeves at some point? |

I don't see any signs of pin holes, but maybe a close up would reveal if there were any.
