What are the opinions on brother 7766's various formation patches? I looked at his items given the sellers pedigree and was looking at buying a couple of them, but Im no expert on patches, thanks Gary

Never buy anything solely on a sellers pedigree. There are several fakes on Lew’s site, Garry’s site and Garry’s eBay listings. Not a dig just a fact. Everyone makes mistakes and there is more info on this forum than I expect most dealers actually know/remember or have ready access to.

Researching an item first is the best way to have confidence in your collection and avoid later disappointment.

Had some lovely badges off Lew, including a few in fag packets. He will be missed if retiring.

Thanks for the reply Luke - any opinion on the Nigeria and 2 Port Task patches? They were the ones I was thinking of. Looked up the Nigeria, seems comparable to most others, but didn't find enough examples of the Port ones to make a decision.

I've only just seen this post. I was wondering what had happened to Lew. Shame he's not selling badges anymore. I remember reading some lively debates between him and some former members on this site, about badge authenticity. I also remember when I first stated out collecting (not so long ago) and I sent Lew an email asking if a badge I was interested in buying from him, had it's slider intact. Response ' All badges with sliders and lugs. I don't sell tat' Well I had to be sure.
He did sell some quite good stuff at reasonable prices. Hope his ebay listings start to include badges, Not really keen on Gary's ebay listings. All auction and not much selection. Pity, because I've had some good stuff off him in the past too

I have also been a customer of Lew for many years and wish him a long and happy retirement if he is giving up selling.

I always think if it is difficult to find genuine badges at reasonable prices to add to your collection, then how much more difficult for a dealer to buy genuine badges at reasonable prices and in sufficient quantity to sell at a profit and maintain a turnover of stock.

Sad to see Lew giving up I have been dealing with him for approx 35 years ,when items arrived in fag packets many times before payment sent The good old days

Oh the pre internet pre eBay halcyon days of collecting waiting for a dealers mail order list to drop through the letter box ? badges arrived packed in cig packets the young collector will never have these iconic moments ....!
