Default 9th Bn CEF

One of many suspect badges for the 9th Bn CEF.

This badge is made up on the leaf from a 25th Battn badge with the overlay holes clearly visable. The badge is not IMO suspect but made up to deceive a clear fake.
Any accepted period interm badges where made on GS leafs . Just my opinion though

Just a further note of historical fact the 9th was formed quickly in September
1914 from recruits in Emonton and Ottawa and on October 3-4 th was off to England. I do not believe the 25th was badged until 1915 where this leaf originates from .
The 9th did have interm badges of several fabrications all on GS leafs.
Their badge was issued the day they where disbanded in England but was worn by members who continued to serve with the 9th reserve thus the existance of many well worn examples and photo evidence.

Default 9th CEF Badge

After gathering all the evidence IMHO!

From the ones I have viewed two of which are at the RCMI, Paulbear's Album,Over the Top,Charlton etc.

This badge is in the RARE-RARE category!

The leaf pattern definately does resemble the 25th Bn. Its not suspect! It is.

Enough Said!
