5th, 9th, 24th and 27th are fakes.

12th, 16th, 17th are good.

Yes, they do turn up in collections upon a fairly regular basis, the internet is awash with them.

That is okay - seller will take back what is not good.

Do others agree with 24th Lancers being a reproduction?

I would think that is more likely an example worn by the 16th/5th Lancers.

To summerize:

5, 24, 27 REPRODUCTIONS

9 reproduction according to Luke H

12, 16, 17 original according to Luke H

No opinions expressed on: 21

Can anyone please confirm or deny Luke H both on reproduction (9) and original (12, 16, 17) and/or express an opinion on 21? Thanks.

The 9L is a fake from the Martin Marsh catalogue die. This is evident from the shape of the shape of the crown and seeding pattern on the scroll. They’re often found in brass and occasionally with the ubiquitous 15mm J.R.GAUNT.LONDON mark.

The quality of the reverse stamp, especially on the scroll, can vary hugely.
