Default Answers on a postcard

Has anyone got a clue as to what this might be.
As can be seen in comparison to a cap badge, it is too small for split Officer’s cap badge.
Fitting is similar to RMLI horn for the button boss and, like that, it is silver or white metal
Could it be RMLI button boss in KC era or RM button boss in post amalgamation period?
